Artwork

Where do I send my art?
We prefer artwork to be sent via our "File Upload Tool", but artwork can also be emailed to artwork@eclipsemktg.com.

Promotional Products and Branded Clothing are more effective when they contain good quality artwork.  The whole point of using these products as a promotional vehicle is exposing clients and prospects to your logo and message on a frequent basis.  Promotion Products has hundreds of great quality Promotional Products, it is our job to make your logo look great on them – this can only be done with good quality artwork.

'Bad' Art  Image is of a low grade and is pixellated.   Printing this file would result in a poor quality Promotional Product.  The larger this image is printed the greater the distortion.

'Good' Art.  After being redrawn the same image is now high resolution.  Regardless of the print size image will be crisp and clear creating a more positive promotional outcome.

What’s ‘good’, what’s ‘bad’?!
The quality and resolution of artwork for decoration depends on how we are decorating your chosen Promotional Product or Branded Clothing.  In short, for embroidery we can utilise most files (word, jpeg, tiff, bitmap, AI, EPS, PDF).  When we embroider we ‘digitise’ the file into a format recognised by the embroidery machine.  For screen printing, pad printing and laser engraving the higher the resolution of the art the better – we need EPS and AI files.  In general it is fair to say EPS and AI files are good, the rest are not (unless embroidering). If in doubt email the file to us for advice.

What’s the difference between EPS and AI files and the others?
EPS and AI files are designed primarily for artwork purposes – they are the industry standard.  Other files like jpegs and PDF’s are designed to show an image on anyone’s PC.  EPS and AI files are what we call ‘vector’ art.  They are made up of different vectors and components.  Vector art can be used for high resolution artwork finishes on a side of a bus or on a pen.

Color Matching
Many of our decoration methods allow for the opportunity to closely match the imprint color to a specific requirement. Customers who require specific color matching should provide us with "PMS" color numbers where applicable. PMS stands for Pantone Matching System ®.
We have an online pantone color chart that you can use to compare colors relative to themselves. Be aware that all monitors are different and the color you see on the screen will surely be different when viewed in person. Where PMS matching is available, there may be an additional charge per color for this service as inks need to be carefully blended to achieve a close match to your color. If your logo is to be embroidered, we will select a thread which most closely matches your PMS color and you will have the opportunity to see this choice when you approve your "sew-out."

Artwork with Text
We recommend that all text be converted to outlines when possible. If not, all fonts must be included with your art. Please note that the smallest text size that can be imprinted is typically around 6-8 pt. with some exceptions. Embroidery lettering should be non-serif and at least 3/16" to 1/4" in height. It is often necessary to modify or drop text entirely for small imprint areas.

Single Color Artwork
We prefer eps files, however we can use .jpg or .tiff files if their resolution is 600 dpi (dots per inch) or higher at the size of the imprint area. The logo should be in black on a white background. Web images are 72 dpi and are not acceptable.

Multiple Color Artwork
Send only original, native vector, EPS files. Files such as DOC, BMP, GIF, EXE, PCX, PPT, P65, or XLS are not acceptable. These file formats are generally low resolution-- only suitable for viewing on-screen-- not for printing and cannot be appropriately modified.
Obtaining Vector Art
If you are organising decorated Promotional Products and you do not have vector art we need to either locate it or create it.  In our experience most logos exist in an EPS format somewhere. You could try your marketing department or the graphic artist who created it.  To create high quality vector art is something best done by an experienced graphic artist.  Software programs do exist that claim to create vector art but from what we can see they are still a good few years away from being of the quality required (if a logo contains anything out of the ordinary, and most logos do) they simply do not work.  The graphic artist will redraw your logo.

What if I don't have artwork?

If you don't have artwork, it's not a problem. Sketch out or send us a file describing what you're looking for and we'll help you out. We will do simple typesetting of your name and message at no charge!
Remember, artwork should never get in the way of doing a promotion. If you can't find art that meets our electronic submittal requirements, we can always create it for a small fee. Once we recreate your art, you won't have this charge again. An e-Proof will be provided for you to review.
